El Topo by Spain Rodriguez

Originally published alongside an interview with Alejandro Jodorowsky in Art Spiegelman’s Douglas Comix(1972), reprinted in Stephen Bissette’s Taboo #4(1990). This is what directly follows the first English publication of Moebius & Jodorowsky’s Eyes of the Cat in Taboo #4. It’s not really Moebius-related, I just think it’s fantastic.

SPAIN RODRIGUEZ, MARCH 22, 1940 – NOVEMBER 28, 2012

Spain was a titan, his comics punched me in the face in a way that no others did. An incredible loss.

I want to run away and live in that world. Or at least drink there regularly.

This harlequin shrimp is mesmerizing

They sure are beautiful, but especially if you’re a starfish, these shrimp are not to be taken lightly. That’s because the shrimp feed on starfish, first stunning them with their front legs and then dragging them off to be eaten alive (so they stay fresh, of course).
